Welcome back to Self Defense Situation - What Do You Do? - Part 27. If you read any post of this series, you know we talk about specific situations and how you can defend yourself in that situation. The situation, environment, and location have an impact on how you are going to protect yourself.
What if someone attacks you when you are in the water? If you have not read the previous post, I recommend reading that. Today we are going to start from there. Here's the link.
You see, there is water where she is being attacked. In case the water is up to the knee, you might find it difficult to kick. It takes more time to kick, and there is a high chance you can choose your balance. Let's watch this video. This is not my video and all video credit goes to chintya candranaya. From 0:57 to 1:40 Minutes
You can do flying kicks. It looks cool, but it is not as effective as you think. When you fight for self defense, you should use those techniques or strikes that can save your life. The attacker is doing the flying kick. And you see how the girl makes her move to defend that.
If you do flying kick, and the attacker is a good fighter, you will be in trouble. It is better to stick to the basics. Besides flying kicks, you also see different kicks in this video. There is not much water over there; otherwise, it would be challenging to do kicks.
When you raise your leg from water to kick, it makes a sound. And you cannot do that fast. So the attacker has the time to defend your kick and attack you back. Losing your balance can be the worse thing that can happen. There is sand in the water. It can be slippery.
If you watch the behind the scene, you see they lose their balance while shooting [from 2:31 to 2:35 minutes]. It looks nice and clean when you see a fight in movies. If there are some mistakes in any move, they can shoot that again. In a real-life, when you fight for self defense, you cannot do that.
So what do you think about fighting in a situation like this? Please feel free to let me know your thoughts in the comments below. Thank you so much for reading this post. If you like martial arts or want to learn more about self defense, you can check out some of my recent posts.
