I used to think about it a lot.
I've always been a "big" girl. My whole life I've been bullied for being too tall. Being too heavy. I used to compensate by dressing outrageously. If people were going to pick on me, at least I can give them some other material besides how much I weigh, ya know?

My last two ex partners put a lot of emphasis on my weight. One simply said that I wasn't "physically attractive enough" and just "too big". The other lost weight and suddenly, he found me absolutely revolting.

I spent forever starving myself, trying different diets. I made myself sick more times than I could count. I lost so much weight and when that proved that it wasn't enough to satisfy these partners, I reverted back. Because... what was the point?

I am by no means obese to the point where I can't be active. I enjoy walking and riding bikes. I love to swim. Yeah, I am a bigger gal but I don't let that define me anymore.

I do still think about my weight and diet. I know I could be heathier. I know I could be more physically attractive. I certainly could eat better.

And I plan to do all of these things.

But I don't let them rule my every day and my own self-worth anymore. Which I think is pretty awesome!

Weight and diet have been hard subjects for me over the years, but since being with my partner (who I met on here) I found that it is okay to be comfortable just being myself. And if I need to change for me, he's cool with that, but I am loved just the way I am.

Which has really helped me realize that it is okay to love myself, even if I need improvement. (And to eat a damn salad once in a while)

I think about being a fatty pretty often, but not willing to change enough to make a difference. I eat salad and fruit quite often, but this just maintains my weight, and I've decided I'm fine with being a bit overweight as long as I'm not huge or type 2 diabetic.

I try to step on the scale a few times a week. I think it's healthy to at least know what that number is so I can make changes during the week if necessary!

A person can manage a healthy diet without him realizing it. That is, the diet has become a habit, needs and everyday lifestyle.

Have finally lost weight.

Guys About 10 years ago I was creeping up on 200 pounds. It was not fun, my clothes were not fitting, and I was one box of cookies away from having to purchase clothes at the ‘larger’ women's store. (I'm not judging anyone when I say ‘larger’ store - I just wanted to make sure I made that clear!)

I made a deal with myself. Something had to change. I had no energy, I was eating anything and everything I wanted, with no regard for my health.

I made a conscious decision to cut my meals in half, eat more veggies, and start working out.

In approx 6 months I lost 50 lbs. At my very smallest I weighed 135 lbs (61.2 kg). I'm 5′7″ (1.74 m) tall, so that was pretty damn tiny for my frame! Now I'm closer to 150 (68 kg), but still healthy.

I cut all my meals in half. No matter what I was eating - I took half away at the beginning. This took away the chance of me continuing to eat even after I was full.

It definitely took time, but slowly I started to lose weight. Then the weight started coming off quickly.

My diet also changed.

I went from eating whatever I wanted (in large portions) to eating healthier meals in smaller portions.

Here is an example of what I eat on a daily basis:

Breakfast: Shredded Wheat cereal with 1% milk, or fruit. Usually either a grapefruit or banana with a little melon.

Lunch: usually soup. I try to make my own soup so I can control the salt and fat that goes in it. I make a lentil soup that is really tasty, low in fat and good for you.

Dinner: I will try to eat a balanced meal with a protein (Fish, Beef or Pork), a veggie (asparagus, corn or whatever is in season) and rice.

Dessert: I still splurge on dessert. (I have a mouth full of sweet teeth!) For dessert I will usually have a tiny bowl of ice cream, or a Skinny Cow ice cream bar. They make the best stuff, and it's all pretty healthy! Skinny Cow - delicious desserts!
I am past the point of having to ‘half’ my meals. In the beginning I would usually get take-away meals and split them in half. I wasn't a very good cook back then, so I wasn't very keen on making my own food. I have learned over the years, which makes it a lot easier!

Another thing I did was exercise at least 3 times a week. I went with a friend to the classes offered at 24 hour fitness (this was about 7 years ago). This was the fittest I've ever been in my life.

Wheat Grass was also a big part of my diet. I would take 2 oz. shots 5 times a week. It's disgusting, but it is one of the healthiest liquids on earth. If you can get past the taste, it is an amazing healthy drink

I don't think about my weight but yes I try to implement a better diet every day. I don't think about diet, I improve it day by day :)

I try to keep the weight eating little salt, little sugar and few fryings. I drink a lot of water and only natural juices.

Concerning my weight, I reduced by 2kg. From 50kg to 52kg due to stress. Concerning the diet I haven't been taking note of that .

With those SBD I buy something to eat and get fat AFTER THE DIET .. jjajaajajajajaja

In this life, there are three factors that can make our life balanced. The three factors are love, health and establishment. Love can love family, spouse or best friend. Then, people will feel happy if the health condition is good because it can enjoy life. For example can be free to go anywhere, or eat any food in accordance with the desired taste. Then, life will be more perfect if it has establishment or success. These three factors will make life happier.

I like diets very much, at the moment I am a fan of the paleo diet for all its benefits.

I don't care too much but many months ago i did some routines ans diets.

I obviously questioned my weight if my weight gain rose dramatically, it is not impossible to diet, so that the weight can be back to normal like ages.

I don´t think much about my weight because everybody says I´m skinny, but I´am always worried about eating healthy things, especially after sport.

Right now i think about my weight everyday because i'm trying to loose weight. This used to never be a problem but now that i'm older and my metabolism is slower, i have to watch what i eat everyday. I'm strictly on salads and fruits for the past couple weeks.

I do not think to diet even though weight gain drastically, it seems with diligent exercise, the condition of our body can be maintained properly.

I think that the weight is not a disadvantage to achieve the things of life, but now i think that my weight if I have pasted a lot due to the breastfeeding process that led, in spite of a balanced diet.

I don’t think about my weight that much, but I do think about my poor diet regularly and how I can improve what I eat on a day to day basis. It’s tough when I don’t know the first thing about cooking!

LOL it's not usually until I try to put on a shirt or pair of pants that don't fit, or ocasionally when I look in the mirror.

It matter a lot because extra fat is the reason for almost 90 % health whether it is Heart Attack, Blood Pressure, Lipoma and Pain in Body etc.
That's why we should take care of our extra fat.

When you want to be like you are, you should not mind diets and your weight, but of course it's healthy to eat healthy and exercise. I love my body as it is.

The truth is that I do not worry about weight, I do not diet as such, but if I try to eat a little more to not get so skinny since I am a runner and I spend a lot of energy

I have been told by the doc to lose some weight to stay healthy. So currently i am watching my weight and what and how much is my intake. No hard and fast DIET as i love food and enjoy. So i still eat all my favourite food but quantity less. Hope my next check up, the doc is happy with my efforts of losing a few kilos over 6 months. Slow and steady but keep the momentum on going, that's my motto..thanks

To be honest I didn't care about that until my father died, he had a heart attack, so since then I started eating healthy and I even joined a gym, so, the thing is, that you don't have to do it because other people says so, you gotta do it for yourself. Thank you for reading.

Diet ain't a key influence for weight but GENE or BODY TYPE do matter. I am born to be thin even though I can consume a lot of foods but it didn't get me fat. fat do bothers people but thin too

I have a bad lifestyle, I'm an unhealthy person

I think about my weight and diet fairly regularly but not to the extent that I deprive myself from foods that I want to eat. I do not check and count for calories before I eat something but if it is obviously very fatty then I take a brake. I step into the scale few times in a month to check my weight. If it tells me that I am gaining more and going beyond the maximum weight that is proportional to my height then I again take a brake with my food intake. The good thing is that I do not worry about going below minimum weight that is proportional to my height.

In a nutshell, if someone does not have a medical condition that is related to gaining or losing weight then it should not be much of a worry.

My bottom line advice, be happy in your own skin as it is. 🙂

Some, but it is low on my priorities.

I think a lot! I think I'm a little thin, because of the lack of balanced nutrition. In Venezuela, we already consume less food than before. Very important things that were very common disappeared or drastically reduced consumption.

Could I eat better? Yes. Could I lose a few pounds? Yes. Do I care, not anymore. I am happy with me, no matter what.

I worry very little hehe I think I'm very good!

I weigh 55 kgs, and for a height of 5'10'', its low. So yeah I daily think about ways to gain healthy weight in the form of muscle mass.

Well,as for me I think I need a controlled regimen of my intakes to gain weight, almost everyone I see recently utter out how lean I have become.
However I have never wanted my body to turn out becoming a fat storage but in this case, I need to adopt a little bit of my unwanted idea.

I am a dialysis patient. This means I really have to watch my diet and weight. Dialysis is not new to patients who are suffering of kidney failure. And because our kidneys are already not functioning well, the fluid that we intake do not exit or get out from our body. In fact, some of us cannot urinate already. As such, we have to consider our weight and water intake always. More water intake would lead us to fluid retention inside our body, which might drown us internally and/or cause infection. More water intake, this would include the food, would increase our weight. Ans the conversion would suggest that 1 kilogram gain is about 1 Liter of water.

ps: I experience a gain of 5kilos in just a span of four days (from my diet and because water cannot exit my body) and lose 4 kilos in a span of three hours (all from dialysis)

You may be consuming too many foods that are healthy but also high in calories, such as nuts and cheese. Watching portion sizes is key.

Sometimes I think about that. And recently I started going to a gym for that reason, but suddenly, when a chocolate appears in front of me I'll eat it in less than a minute.

If you think by skipping breakfast or lunch will help you lose weight faster, think twice again. When letting the stomach go hungry, you will eat more at the next meal. You will tend to choose calorie, high-fat and high-fat foods because of hunger.

Many of us are disciplined to organize a meal on Monday-Friday, but eat at weekend on the excuse of wanting to give a 'reward' to myself for having eaten healthy for five days. This assumption can actually damage your overall diet because it tends to not control your appetite. If you're a fan of sugary foods, there's no harm in sucking a piece of chocolate or eating a dash of potato chips every day. In essence, you may eat your favorite foods as long as they are reasonable and do not exceed your daily caloric needs.

Studies on very low-calorie diets providing less than 1,000 calories per day show they can lead to muscle loss and significantly slow down metabolism (5, 6, 7).

Snacks or snacks should be consumed in small quantities, because the function is only as a distraction between main meals. Unfortunately, many people who forget themselves when eating a snack because it's tasty and delicious. They are not aware of having consumed hundreds of calories in one meal. Limit consumption of up to 150 calories snack; more than that, do not blame anyone if your body more fattening.

Then I read about developing an intolerance to cows milk if you had celiac disease. So I stopped drinking it. My energy increased and my bowels became healthier. In the end I went full paleo. And suddenly all meat started smelling like it was a living farm animal. When I stopped eating it my farts stopped stinking. Paleo diets seem hard but they’re super easy once you understand the principles. It doesn’t mean you go flavourless as honey rice malt syrup and golden syrup are digestible and processable unlike sugar cane. I make my own home made icecream brownies chocolates chocolate sauce breads. I’m losing weight like normal people do because I went paleo. Feel healthier for it. But I’m still not at the right bmi. Hall, a scientist at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), started watching The Biggest Loser a few years ago on the recommendation of a friend. “I saw these folks stepping on scales, and they lost 20 lb. in a week,” he says. On the one hand, it tracked with widespread beliefs about weight loss: the workouts were punishing and the diets restrictive, so it stood to reason the men and women on the show would slim down. Lore has it that at about the same time, President William Howard Taft adopted a fairly contemporary plan–low fat, low calorie, with a daily food log–after he got stuck in a White House bathtub.

The concept of the calorie as a unit of energy had been studied and shared in scientific circles throughout Europe for some time, but it wasn’t until World War I that calorie counting became de rigueur in the U.S.

Amid global food shortages, the American government needed a way to encourage people to cut back on their food intake, so it issued its first ever “scientific diet” for Americans, which had calorie counting at its core.

In the following decades, when being rail-thin became ever more desirable, nearly all dieting advice stressed meals that were low calorie. There was the grapefruit diet of the 1930s (in which people ate half a grapefruit with every meal out of a belief that the fruit contained fat-burning enzymes) and the cabbage-soup diet of the 1950s (a flatulence-inducing plan in which people ate cabbage soup every day for a week alongside low-calorie meals).

The 1960s saw the beginning of the massive commercialization of dieting in the U.S. That’s when a New York housewife named Jean Nidetch began hosting friends at her home to talk about their issues with weight and dieting. Nidetch was a self-proclaimed cookie lover who had struggled for years to slim down. Her weekly meetings helped her so much–she lost 72 lb. in about a year–that she ultimately turned those living-room gatherings into a company called Weight Watchers. When it went public in 1968, she and her co-founders became millionaires overnight. Nearly half a century later, Weight Watchers remains one of the most commercially successful diet companies in the world, with 3.6 million active users and $1.2 billion in revenue in 2016.

What most of these diets had in common was an idea that is still popular today: eat fewer calories and you will lose weight. Even the low-fat craze that kicked off in the late 1970s–which was based on the intuitively appealing but incorrect notion that eating fat will make you fat–depended on the calorie-counting model of weight loss. (Since fatty foods are more calorie-dense than, say, plants, logic suggests that if you eat less of them, you will consume fewer calories overall, and then you’ll lose weight.)

That’s not what happened when people went low fat, though. The diet trend coincided with weight gain. In 1990, adults with obesity made up less than 15% of the U.S. population. By 2010, most states were reporting obesity in 25% or more of their populations. Today that has swelled to 40% of the adult population. For kids and teens, it’s 17%.

Research like Hall’s is beginning to explain why. As demoralizing as his initial findings were, they weren’t altogether surprising: more than 80% of people with obesity who lose weight gain it back. That’s because when you lose weight, your resting metabolism (how much energy your body uses when at rest) slows down–possibly an evolutionary holdover from the days when food scarcity was common.

What Hall discovered, however–and what frankly startled him–was that even when the Biggest Loser contestants gained back some of their weight, their resting metabolism didn’t speed up along with it. Instead, in a cruel twist, it remained low, burning about 700 fewer calories per day than it did before they started losing weight in the first place. “When people see the slowing metabolism numbers,” says Hall, “their eyes bulge like, How is that even possible?”

The contestants lose a massive amount of weight in a relatively short period of time–admittedly not how most doctors recommend you lose weight–but research shows that the same slowing metabolism Hall observed tends to happen to regular Joes too. Most people who lose weight gain back the pounds they lost at a rate of 2 to 4 lb. per year.

For the 2.2 billion people around the world who are overweight, Hall’s findings can seem like a formula for failure–and, at the same time, scientific vindication. They show that it’s indeed biology, not simply a lack of willpower, that makes it so hard to lose weight.
