Reps. Lofgren and Eshoo propose Online Privacy Act

It is about time that the U.S comes up with a new consumer privacy law at the federal level that is similar to the GDPR. This proposed law is presumably meant to just do that. 

The question that we ask is, "Upon the passing of this Act, what happens to the all the other federal laws that also affect online privacy such as the The Federal Trade Commission Act 1914, Electronic Communication Privacy Act 1986, Computer Fraud and Abuse Act 1986, Financial Services Modernization Act 1999 and Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act 2003?"
