How much should the Bunker be supposed to protect?


Thanks for the active participation in our Bounty on the official Discord server, settlers. That was fun. So let's do a little interactive game development next.

We will publish the building Bunker parallel to the release of the Battle module. The bunker protects a part of your depot from attacks.

We have already a ratio in mind. However, we will not reveal the value in order not to dilute the results of this poll. To verify this value, we create this poll.

Keep in mind that the bunker protects passively.

Please also bear in mind that this result is not binding for us. We will use this to verify the already envisaged result.

Eine Frage an @oliverschmid. Der Account @captain.kirk hat eine Transport Mission von Vulkan nach Theta mit mehreren Schiffen gemacht. Jetzt sind 13 Schiffe auf Theta gestrandet und sind nicht zurück gekehrt. Kann man keine Transport Mission zu Planeten machen, die kein Shipyard Level 12 haben?

Resources are really valuable in the game. If a new user would have its depots constantly raided by an early adopter that pretty much would block his chances to advance!

So I think that 50% is reasonable, but if you wish to set it lower I would advise establishing a metalevel cap to prevent bigger accounts from bullying small fishes.

80% of max at level 20 motivates players to return and not let their depo get too full, while still allowing for players who are saving up to upgrade or enhance something enough room to save up safely

Resoursces are really important in the game so I think it is the best choice that the bunker should protect 50% at level 20. It wouldn 't be fair for the attackers if the bunker will protect 80% of max storage, they will get a small amount of resoursces.

This is my opinion.

80% at Max level,..keep a good amount safe but still enough incentive for raiders to come looking.

You make it sound like it is a procentual of your availible storage. I would prefer some sort of fix number per storage lvl, but so that if you have lvl 5 storage and lvl 5 bunker that it then covers 25% and if you have then lvl 20 Storage and lvl 20 Bunker that is still saves 25%.

This sounds like a reasonable suggestion, but making it max 20% seems better fitting in 20 level max skills scheme.

80% wäre eine feine Sache! Genug geschützt, sodass man weiterbauen kann. Bei weniger sollte es anders einen Schutz geben für ev. 2 Tage nach einem "Raub" eine größere % Anzahl. Wäre ja unfaire immer alles und regelmäßig abzustauben. 😉

70% I find ok.
The incentive for attacking remains.
Most of the ress can't be robbed which is also the sense of the bunker and this should help smaller players.
And still you try hard not to let your depots overflow because lost 30% still hurt.

I'm not German like Uwe ( @uwelang ) but I agree with him entirely.

Bunkers are great for safety and they should be able to protect the whole our resources if we build them big and good enough.

In that sense, I would make every next level of protection not to be so easy to achieve. (Just my 2 cents!)

If someone wants protection, i'd suggest implementing some kind of vacation mode, where you dont produce but cannot be attacked :)

Given that the game is strategical, and at a low pace, I would suggest 60%. That's more than enough to not play a day or two, yet you'll have the possibility to get good amounts by attacking.

If you go lower it won't be any useful to max it out, if the bunker protects more is pointless to attack. @nextcolony

Without 100% protection, there is only a fight left.
A game should also allow other components.
Other game goals are
trade, diplomacy, social interaction, exchange, ...
These other aspects make a good play.

30% saving too much material in the long run makes the game too monotonous and becomes a kind of continuous performance obligation ...

It's definitely 40%. Feels just about right — its 'passive' and per upgrade it gives a nice even increase of 2%.

I have played type of games too much and have to say, that I find making systems that require you to be abused by other higher ranking players usually make me uninstall the game.

The issue is that these are oddly designed where the base contains all the resources where in real life, the units and outlaying factories contain the resources if you were being more realistic.

Of course most of this mobile games only had the one city that a player could own.

I thought that depots are good enough to ensure storage from other opponents, but it seems now that also a bunker is needed. So, at least 80% should be preserved while under siege.

I think the bunker should protect a meaningful fixed amount and a decreasing additional amount with each upgrade.
Maybe allow to add multiple bunkers
