The short answer is no.. at least with most substances. The vast majority will lose full potency, but will still be good to work with even many decades past the expiration date. I'd still do research on the substance that you're taking, but the main 2 side effects will be delayed onset and lowered potency. Most drugs are safe to take after expiration dates, which mainly exist for companies as an organization, marketing & legal tool.
