Check out this little Butcher Bird chick making itself at home ......

지난달

I have a home that could only be described as an inside outside one, it has a large deck blending into the garden and also lots of doors that are always open. It is very suited to the sub-tropical weather of south eastern Queensland. I not only enjoy the open expansive feeling I also love the breezes that blow through the house from the front to the back.

Birds appear to love this home design too as they easily fly in any time of the day. Another word to describe the relationship is comfortable because the other day a parent and a baby Butcher Bird flew in onto one of the cane chairs for a snack of meat. But to our surprise, the baby did what we have never seen before, settled down for a short nap on the cushion after eating.

I am sure he was actually sleeping as he snuggled into the soft cushion for ten minutes. At first I thought he might have been sick but no, he was just making himself at home in our inside outside home. And when I think of it, it made sense for him to do this as he has practically grown up with us since we have fed him since a fledgling. Imprinting really works this way too?

But, the parent bird stayed happily perched on the chair watching over her little chick as he rested and when he had enough they both flew off together. So cute, it made my day.

This was my little warm and fuzzy #featherfriend and #feathedFriday contribution for this week @old-guy-photos and @melinda010100. Thank you both.

Cheers and Blessings

Cute, i've never seen a butcher bird before, they have a kingfisher look to them.

·

They do, I hadn't thought of this. I'll have to look them up to see if they are related to the Kingfisher family.

He thinks he is part of the family! That is so cute! And the mom seems perfectly at home, too! I am so glad that you got photos of this. Thanks so much for sharing them at #featheredfriends.

This was such a cool shot and I cannot believe that she let that little baby cuddle up to the cushions like that! How sweet!!!

You must have done something right as the mama bird didn't flinch an inch!! That is such a great shoot!

Despite telling the birds to behave, lol.

Awww Angie! That is so cute of the baby chick making himself at home. They must trust you. Love your inside outside home where you catch the breezes. 💗

Finding a cool spot is so important on a hot day Jo. At the moment the humidity is very high so it is air con time.

Howdy angiemitchell! That is just incredible! lol...can't get any better than that.

Life has its little priceless pleasures janton, something so little makes my day.

How cute is that a open house for the birds all welcome that's living tropical...lol ☀️

·

Hahaha, it is and the only way in this hot climate. I can never understand house designs that do not utilise the environment they are in.
