A French Afternoon Coffee at Vanilla & Louro Gastronomy - Porto Alegre,Brazil

I went to meet Vanilla & Louro Gastronomia one evening, and had a good time in this piece of France in Porto Alegre.

As soon as I arrived, I was mesmerized by the good smell of a brioche being gratinated and the beauty of everything on the counter, so many maccarons, eclairs, croissants, breads, cannelés, pies, and so many other sweet and salty ones that I wouldn't even know how to pronounce the names.

The decor has an industrial feel, with plenty of metal, burnt cement and white tiles, which contrasts very nicely with the calm French music that plays in the place.

Vanilla recipes bring fresh, natural ingredients from the season, even the dyes used to make maccarons.

After taking another look at the counter, I ordered a Croissant, a Leek Bacon Pie, an Opera, a Vanilla Eclair, two Maccarons, a White Chocolate with Tonka and an Almond, and a House Tea to go with it. .

The pie came with the "crumble in the mouth" pate brisée and the filling, creamy and seasoned. The combination of bacon and leek - which eventually robbed the scene - was fantastic!

The croissant dough was very crispy, buttery and tasty. The cannelé - prepared in the traditional form of copper - was very tasty, “burnt” on the outside and soft inside.

The éclair arrived at the table with a very soft texture, with vanilla present in both flavor and perfume. That kind of candy that you can close your eyes for a few minutes and concentrate on feeling all the flavors.

The white chocolate and Tonka maccaron were very crispy, light and sweet in size. The almonds came sweeter and with more striking flavor, which resembled a marzipan.

Before conquering the palate, the opera enchanted by the well-marked layers and the sheen of the chocolate on the roof. I really enjoyed feeling the different textures and the striking flavors of almond, coffee and dark chocolate.

I really liked that the people of the house can serve extremely delicious and sophisticated dishes in an unpretentious way that complicates all the pomp that has been created around the French cuisine.

I know it's just an au revouir for Vanilla & Louro because I'm sure I'll be back more often, to have breakfast, to repeat an afternoon coffee, or even have lunch.
