Hello, steemit. Today is the first day of spring and I thought that I had to make a springtime dessert so I chose to share with you one of my favorite dessert recipes which is called Pavlova. It is an Australian sweet and got its name from the famous Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova. The story says that a New Zealander chef made that dessert in order to honor the Russian dancer, during a tour of her in Australia and New Zealand at 1920.
I think Pavlova is a popular and well-known dessert but I don't know if it is widespread in your country. In my country, we consume it usually on Easter and generally on Springtime because this time of the year the first strawberries are coming from our garden or placed at the stall of our local supermarkets. It contains very few and simple ingredients that usually all of us have at our home. It needs eggs, sugar, dairy cream, and strawberries.
I have made Pavlova plenty of times at the past but I had never tried the dessert completed. I always was eating one tiny piece of baked meringue in order to try the flavor and the texture of it, before I serve it to my customers. It was so sweet that I could eat more. But today I got amazed by the flavor of the completed Pavlova with the nonsweet whipped cream, the juicy strawberries, and the sweet and aromatic strawberry sauce. The feeling of the first bite is like you have a food orgasm and you want more and more!! The unsweetened whipped cream along with fresh strawberries helps to balance the excessive sweetness of the baked meringues and the strawberry sauce on the top boosts the result.
In order to make Pavlova, you need first to make 3 different preparations. The two of them can withstand time, so better make biggers quantity to have ready for the next time you desire something sweet and sexy. I refer, of course, to the meringues and the strawberry sauce which they can be preserved for a long time. When you want to eat this dessert beat a whipped cream on the mixer or even better by one ready from the supermarket and have it in your fridge. Put some whipped cream above the meringues, add some fresh strawberries and finally pour a little strawberry sauce on the top and the food orgasm is guaranteed. (I felt it some hours ago.)
- 200 gr egg white (about 8 eggs)
- 350 gr powdered sugar
Beat the 2 ingredients in the mixer for about 5-10 minutes until the mixtures become a tight meringue. Then place baking sheet in a pan and with a spoon put the meringues on it. Bake at 100 Celsius degree for about one hour. The will be ready when they start to unstick from the baking sheet.
- 200 ml water
- 170 gr sugar
- 6 strawberries
Boil all the ingredients together and melt the strawberries with a fork in order to let their aromas in the sauce. Boil for 5-8 minutes depends on how fluid you want your sauce to be. Then use a food processor to blend the sauce and turn the syroup along with the pieces of the strawberry into a creamy aromatic sauce.
- 200ml dairy cream
Put the dairy cream on the mixer and beat for 3-5 minutes. Be careful we don't want the whipped cream to become tight. It must be like a gentle fluffy cream with a lot of air inside!
Now that we have all the preparations ready it is time to set up the dessert. I don't have anything standard referring to the size or the construction of the dessert. This time I have put the meringues as a base and above that, I put plenty of whipped cream and strawberries and a little strawberry sauce. Another way you can make it is like a mountain. Make 3-4 round meringues the one bigger from the other and then place the meringues in layers with whipped cream the one above the other. Finally you can make very small meringues and make individual desserts like a small bite. Everyone who is going to eat it, believe me, he will get excited.
Thanks for stopping by.. I think that anybody can make this recipe cause it is very easy, delicious and mouthwatering so you must definitely try it if you want to feel what I felt today when I first tried it.
