The Marvel’s Avengers beta will give Fortnite players Hulk Hands

Worlds collide, just like Hulk hands with your face in the early 2000s

In Crystal Dynamics’ July 29 War Table for Marvel’s Avengers, the studio announced a tie-in event with Fortnite. The studio also revealed Hawkeye as Marvel’s Avengers’ first post-launch hero.

Starting Aug. 7, players can jump into Marvel’s Avengers’ beta on PlayStation 4, with other versions coming later in the month. By completing the beta and some in-game challenges, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players can earn the Hulk Smasher Pickaxe — including an Iron Man Hulkbuster-style version of the pickaxe — for Fortnite. It appears PC players aren’t able to earn these new items, although Epic will add both pickaxes in the in-game store at a later date.

To unlock the new pickaxe, players will need to complete all three HARM Challenges during the beta. It’s currently unclear what these challenges entail. To redeem their new pickaxe, players will need to link their console accounts to their Epic Games account.

The pickaxe itself seems to draw inspiration from Hulk Hands, a popular — and surprisingly painful — toy from 2003. Paired with Fortnite’s other crossover cosmetics, players might be able to fulfill their weirdest superhero fantasies, like Aquaman wearing Hulk Hands.

The Marvel’s Avengers beta starts first on PlayStation 4 on Aug. 7 for players that pre-order the game. On Aug. 14, players who pre-order on Windows PC and Xbox version can play the same beta, with an open beta for all PS4 players.
