Why are many today oppressed and easily deceived?
What would make a prince to be living like a servant?
Well, this piece "The Key To Freedom" seeks to answer these questions with a great care. It's my sincere desire that you'll be blessed by this write-up.
Let me start with an experience I had about 7 years ago in college. I did typing as one of my core courses, and for this reason I had my personal typewriter.
And one day, in my room I was doing some typing and all of a sudden, I discovered that when I pushed the "Carriage release lever" the carriage was not moving to allow me type. I became a little anxious that my typewriter must have developed a serious fault-- one I couldn't trace its cause, because before then, I had not experienced such. So I decided to take it to a repairer close by, to help me get it fixed.
The repairer checked it and charged me a relatively high price, since he was the only one close to my college. I remembered asking him if I should wait for him to fix it right before my eyes, but he declined and said that I should come back later. This, I did.
After that day, again, I was right in my room doing my typing assignments with my typewriter, that same issue sprung up the second time. But this time around, I resolved that I was going to get to the root of the matter. Though, I spent a considerable time to fathom what went wrong. But I'm glad I did. It was just a minor issue-- I had mistakenly shifted a button out of its normal position.
"Oh, poor me!" I said to myself.
Similarly, many today live and waste in bondage because they lack the knowledge of truth.
"Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Carefully looking at this particular verse, three things will come to mind:
It says, "Ye shall KNOW..." The verb "know" can be traced to the the Greek word "ginosko" which literally means to become aware; to understand and to experience a reality.
What To Know About The Truth
In all honesty, what is true to Mr. A may not be considered true by Mr. B, because of the variance in their understanding and experience. However, a truth in itself is a consistent reality. It's a spiritual reality: Truth is spiritual. John 14:17; John 16:13.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 17:17 says:
Sanctify them by the truth; your WORD is truth.
Conclusively, the extent of freedom a person will experience is a function of the spiritual knowledge he or she has and live by. The reason why we all, as believers, must constantly spend quality time studying God's word.
