Hello beautiful people,
Hope you are doing well. I am going to participate in a contest on science, technology, and computing organized by the Steem Bangladesh community. A big thumbs up from my side for providing us with a good platform.
Today I am going to share my little knowledge about one of the world's latest technology 5G. This is one of the hot topics in the technological world. Hope you will enjoy and benefit from my content. So, let's began with further delay.
What is 5G?
Simply it is called the 5th generation mobile network. It is a sequential update after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. With this degradation to 5G, it will provide us with ultra less latency, higher data speed, higher availability, increase the network capacity and a new door will open for user experience. There is a concept that 5G will connect everything and everyone together like machines, devices, and other objects.
Who Invented 5G?
Generally, there is no individual person or company that owns 5G. Several companies that are under mobile ecosystems have contributed to 5G. Several vendors who have contributed to 5G are 3GPP, ETSI, Qualcomm, Ericsson, Huawei, SK Telecom, Samsung, etc.
The areas where 5G is better than 4G
There are several areas and reasons why 5G is far better than 4G. Let's see some area comparison between them below.
- Speed: 5G is much more faster than 4G .
- Capability: 5G is a unified platform and it has more capability than 4G.
- Latency: 5G has unbelievable amount of lower latency compare to 4G.
- availability: 5G will be available across a wide array of available spectrum regulatory paradigms and bands.
How fast is 5G?
The 5G speed range will be from ~50 Mbit/s to over 1,000 Mbit/s (1 Gbit/s). From several sources, they are claiming that 5G will provide us with 20 Gigabits-per-second download speed. 5G is designed to support a 100x increase in traffic capacity and network efficiency.
5G service availability status and devices
For the 5G IoT chipset, till 2019 there were four commercial chipsets available and one processor was available. The number is increasing day by day. In the year 2020 the first-ever 5G smartphone Samsung galaxy s20 was released. Now all the major phone manufacturers are manufacturing 5G phones.
So, far more than 60 countries have deployed 5G. The user consumption rate is much faster than 4G. Hope soon everyone will have the 5G facilities.
5G impact on the environment
5G is able to reduce the energy consumption rate. There is a new way that has opened to combine IoT and 5G together and this will allow devices to turn on and off automatically when needed. Due to less power consumption, greenhouse emissions will also be decreased.
There is always the other side of the coin. Till now global ICT technology contributes 1.4% of global carbon emission. But with the 5G, there will be more mobile subscribers and the industry will become huge day by day and it may harm the global environment.
