Shitaki, the big black garden cat likes to spend the day outside in the yard if it's nice out, and if I'm outside. A few days ago, I was out in the yard working, and the cat was looking for chipmunks around the wood pile. One of my neighbors was out walking his dog, so he stopped to talk for a bit. His dog was patrolling the garden fence trying to figure out how to get inside. As we were talking, I heard a noise that sounded like a growl, so I turned to look, and saw that Shitaki was up in the plum tree. I had to take some pictures before she climbed back down.
I'm guessing that the cat was scared by the neighbor's dog, because I haven't seen her climb a tree before now. She had been further up the tree, but by the time I got my camera, she was trying to figure out how to get back down from the tree.
This plum tree grows thorns, and she was carefully trying to get past them without stepping on them.
Once she got back down to the lower branches, it was easier for her. I trim all the thorns off the lower branches so I don't poke myself when I'm filling the bird feeders.
She was pretty happy to get down to the larger bottom branch where she could stand easier. from there, it's about 4 feet to the ground, and a cat can manage that pretty easily.
She was pretty happy to get back down to the ground. I think climbing up the tree was a bit more of an adventure than she was expecting.
That's it for this Caturday post, I hope you enjoyed it!
