The Ponderosas, Oil Pastels on Paper, 2016
One of the things I was most impressed with when I went out west was the sheer size of the trees out there. Compared with the East Coast trees, the forests out there have monsters.
I am actually a fan of this one. It has an ethereal feel to it. I only wish I had not made the base of the foreground tree so transparent. Other than that it shows I was learning how to blend and use the oil pastels like they are supposed to be used.
I think this one has been smudged up in the sketchbook. I wish I had taken it out, but I am glad I was able to get a decent scan of it before it got messed up.
I’m posting every painting I have ever done from 2014 to the present, the good, the bad, and the ugly. With an occasional photograph or sketch thrown in just to mix things up. Check back daily to see my progression as an “artist”!
