I hope you guys are doing good, this is my third task as part of the achievement program hosted to support newcomers, so if you are a newcomer I encourage you to complete your achievement task too as it helps in learning the basics of stem and how everything works.
In this post, I am tasked to write about plagiarism and applying citation as per the guide provided to me here. The exact words are quoted below.
"Write an article or post about "What is Plagiarism" with minimum of 200 words by applying the citation method as explained in the above section using the citation markdown provided. Use citations/sources on the photo that you get from the website or photostock website." Source
Plagiarism is the act of stealing other's works without giving them any credit or claiming that you are the original creator for the content in question. Steem is a blockchain-based social media that rewards us for the content that we make aka the proof-of-brain concept. It is thus with at most care should one make any content and publish it because you could get picked up by @endingplagiarism and get in real trouble. So, to make a professional blog post, we need to provide citations to the sources as this will help the reader get in-depth about the topic that we discussed in our blog post. Let's now understand how citation is provided.
Here I'll attach some text and an image to show you how to add citations to it.
"The Kerala model of development refers to the practices adopted in the state of Kerala, India. It is characterized by results showing strong social indicators such as high literacy, improved access to healthcare, high life expectancy, low infant mortality, and low birth rate, often at all levels comparable to developed countries despite having a lower per capita income." As you guys see I have added some sentences from Wikipedia and used the double quotes and gave the source link at the end of the sentences now this shows that those words were not mine and that I give credit to the original creator.
Here I have attached an image and added the source link at the bottom of the image and if you click it, it will take you to its source. This is how you provide citations to the texts and images that you get from the internet.
Now if you guys are wondering how I provided this citation please refer to this guide provided in this post.
I would like to conclude by thanking @cryptokannon for her post detailing plagiarism and all the problems that it might cause, and on how you can provide proper citations to your posts. Now all of the images and graphics used here are designed by me on canva.
Here is my link to the Achievement1 Post ( My Introduction to Steemit | Achievement 1 Post. ) if you guys want to know more about me.
