Nasi Lemak caused a stir in the Twitter-verse this week. A lady tweeted a photo of her admittedly awful looking offering from British Airways and made a dis at the whole idea of this meal:
Nasis Lemak is the National Dish of Malaysia, and so Malaysian tweeters came out in force to show better versions and describe how the dish should have been prepared.
I eat Nasi Lemak a couple of times a week at least and love it so much. I can get it off the street for 1-3 RM (25 cents to 75 cents usd) or for more money in a restaurant. No matter what, I love it always.
My first serving was on an Air Asia flight and I was thrilled with this very yummy meal. Unlike their British counterparts, Air Asia knows how to make Nasi Lemak:
I had to play with my food a bit first. These fried anchovies are now one of my favorite things.
Since living in Malaysia for the last year and a half, I am lucky to be able to eat Nasi Lemak 24/7. This is a pricier restaurant version with fried chicken that was very good.
The peanuts and anchovies give me life!
Another restaurant had a gigantic chicken leg to make this dish one that partially came home with me for takeaway.
And here is a 3 RM street version, just as good as any other. Lucky me to find this lovely dish which will be one thing I miss the most when I leave.
I used a Canon ELPH160 point and shoot camera for some of these photos and my my HMNOTE 1LTE mobile phone for others.
