Discipline is the most important thing in becoming successful. In whatever you do, if you lack the ability to control yourself, it doesn't really matter how skillful you are or gifted. You'll most likely end up a failure, because you need some really considerably good amount of discipline to keep your affairs in order.
From several recent research, wealthy people when asked what's the most important thing in becoming successful, they say the same thing; which is discipline. Discipline is simply forcing or convincing yourself to do something, whether you like it or not, and you make sure you do it at the right time.
Timing is important in everything, you can read all you like after the examinations and it will not matter to your score, what would matter would be reading and studying well in preparation for your examinations. Now, in both cases you read, but when you don't do what you're supposed to do at the right time; sometimes it's as good as not doing it at all.
If you disregard the role of discipline to becoming successful, that will be to your own peril. A lot of self discipline goes into succeeding in anything - you have to wake up early, show up, practice when you should, eat well, if not you may not have the physical capacity to attain success, read and study what you must.
The question now is how do you become more disciplined? It all starts with you accepting that life is actually suffering to a great extent. It's a painful reality but it's the crystal truth. Either ways, we must suffer. It's either we suffer the pain of discipline and succeed or the pain of failure as a result of indiscipline.
So you do what you must do, don't think about the pain, just get it done.
Getting the tasks done is how you build your discipline. Completing it. When you repeatedly push yourself to complete what you've started your discipline will improve as well. It's a painful process, that's how discipline works. It's no longer discipline when you're doing it with ease; it has become a habit.
Apparently, we don't have a choice, because by doing nothing at all, that's a choice on it's own. So it's far better to take charge of your life and your situation and get yourself to work on the things that will get you out of the pit hole you're in or that will push you further up in the right direction. You actually cannot escape discipline, if you truly want to be successful.
