Despite the spectacular advances that have been achieved in understanding the functioning of cells and living beings and having decoded the genetic code of a large number of organisms, including the human being, still no one has any idea of how and where he could life has arisen.

Apart from the explanations provided by the different confessions and religious beliefs, as far as the scientific world is concerned, two possibilities are handled, either it has emerged on our planet billions of years ago or it has come from outer space, a phenomenon that is known as panspermia.

The DNA and RNA molecules that make up our genetic code are formed, among other things, by what experts call nitrogenous bases and that make up the famous letters of life (A)denine, (C)ytosine, (T)imine, (G)uanine and the (U)racil that only appears as part of RNA, letters with which our life is written.

La moléculas de ADN y ARN que componen nuestro código genético están formadas, entre otras cosas, por lo que los expertos llaman bases nitrogenadas y que conforman las famosas letras de la vida (A)denina, (C)itosina, (T)imina, (G)uanina y el (U)racilo que solo aparece formando parte del ARN, letras con las cuales se escribe nuestra vida.

These bases are in turn classified into Purines, which are Guanine and Adenine, and Pyrimidines, made up of Thymine, Cytosine and Uracil, all of which are essential for encoding genes.
It is not the first time that organic components of this type have been found in both meteorites and comets, but some of them were hard to come by.

Estas bases se clasifican a su vez en Purinas que son la Guanina y Adenina y las Pirimidinas, formadas por Timina, Citosina y el Uracilo todas ellas imprescindibles para codificar genes.
No es la primera vez que se encuentran componentes orgánicos de este tipo tanto en meteoritos como en cometas pero algunas de ellas se hacían de rogar.

Although in theory there should be an equal chance of finding any of these nitrogenous bases in outer space it seems, according to experts, that cytosine and thymine have never been found in any outer space object, but that looks set to change after using innovative analysis techniques.

A group of scientists from Hokkaido University have discovered traces of these two bases that were missing to be able to build living beings by analyzing three carbon-rich meteorites.
Although there is no doubt that it is an advance in the understanding of the origin of life, at most we can discover where it comes from, but we still do not have the remotest idea of what it is and how life arises.

Un grupo de científicos de la Universidad Hokkaido han descubierto trazas de estas dos bases que faltaban para poder construir seres vivos analizando tres meteoritos ricos en carbono.
Aunque no cabe duda de que es un avance en la comprensión del origen de la vida, como mucho podemos descubrir de dónde viene pero seguimos sin tener ni la más remota idea de qué es y cómo surge la vida.
