In the alternative healing field, we talk a lot about energy, as it relates to people and how they are feeling. We talk about healing energy, and energy fields and other such things.
Hardcore skeptics and those who are completely attached to the idea of only the material being what is real tend to have a hard time stomaching this idea of people's energies as a real and viable thing.
Now, I'll be the first to admit that science hasn't been able to "measure" this kind of energy and study it under reproducible laboratory conditions... and that's where a lot of the skepticism comes from.
It typically holds true that even the most hardcore skeptic has had an experience where they met someone at a party or at work and walked away, thinking "I got a really bad vibe from that person."
Maybe we can say that's "only natural," and that would be true. What we're experiencing is a modern-day version of our cave dwelling ancestors feeling a sense of dis-ease when a predator was outside the cave, even when that predator had never actually been seen OR heard yet.
For lack of a better way to describe it, our bodies have "instincts" we can't quite explain in a rational scientific manner, and yet they repeatedly and unmistakably occur.
Many people have also had the experience of walking into a roomful of people and feeling there's an oppressive energy in the room. Some would argue that we are just making educated guesses based on what we already know about a setting... but that tends to fall apart when you walk into a room for the first time not having any idea what a gathering is about.
I tend to be somewhat skeptical by nature — believe it or not — so I typically try to be somewhat pragmatic in my approach.
Assuming for a moment that we simply don't know whether these "energy detections" are real or not, consider the upsides and downsides of how we respond. In most cases, there's no harm in paying attention!
That's typically the point I convey to my clients who bring me stories of "I sensed" and "I felt an energy." Well, if nobody was harmed and it helped you understand and navigate a situation... then why be so intent on dismissing it as nonsense?
The way we learn, is to be open to possibilities.
Thanks for reading, and Bright Blessings to all!
