I haven’t really been keeping up on this, but I’ve decided that I need the discipline of going in and really making sure that I’m accountable to do stuff.
If you’re just joining me, I’ve been working on a MFA in Creative Writing. For the past couple months I did an experiment where I basically dropped everything else just to focus on my thesis.
It did not work. For a while I saw a massive productivity boost on my thesis, but it didn’t quite correspond to my previous productivity, and after that things just kept going downhill. As my average output fell, it took my thesis with it, and while I haven’t fallen behind all that’s happened is that I’ve reduced my output more or less to the minimum required amount for me to stay ahead and I’ve lost all my other writing.
So what I’m going to do is use this space as a place to keep myself accountable, work on my author blog (kwilleywrites.com) to serve as a place for me to market my books and set up a newsletter and the like for once I’ve actually started publishing stuff, and also probably pick up on games (you can follow my progress there over at @loreshapergames on Hive).
- ~500 words on a game project
- ~1300 words for MFA stuff
- ~2 hours of setting up a shiny new website (well, it’s a website).
- 16k steps and a little more progress through Solzhenitsyn’s Gulag Archipelago, which is not exactly the best inspiration.
