I haven’t been entirely unproductive, but I missed a few days of doing the posts for this. I’ve just been terribly tired recently, and it comes and goes. I don’t think it’s a health thing, maybe a mixture of dehydration, my terrible sleeping habits (my old insomnia is gone, but that doesn’t mean I make good life decisions), and just having a break from classes causing my stress to bleed out.
Today I wrote a couple posts for my blog (@kwilleywrites or kwilleywrites.com; take your pick, but the website gets posts first), and mostly just walked around the house. I didn’t keep total track, but between the blog and work on my thesis novel I think I hit around ~2000 words, and I’ve got some more ideas laid out for the future as well.
I may also have had some issues with Crusader Kings III and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 Remastered coming out and my willpower being weak. In short: both are good games.
CK3 is probably one of the most immediately accessible Paradox grand strategy games yet. I think it’s a little more overwhelming in terms of interface design than Hearts of Iron 4, which was my old “easiest Paradox game” winner, but the actual play itself is more novice-friendly.
THPS is as good as it used to be, though I’m ashamed to admit that I’m not terribly great at it despite having spent too much of my youth on the originals. Still, it’s a refreshing spin on an old classic that retains the charm while adding fresh paint and tightening up the gameplay.
Also, over the weekend I finished the first volume of Gulag Archipelago and I am now on to volume two. It is not a terribly uplifting subject to study, but it’s interesting and Solzhenitsyn does his best to make it bearable.
