Your beliefs are essentially a series of decisions you make each day. These decisions can either help you achieve your goals or set you up for failure. How are these decisions made? Beliefs are formed when we learn about something in our environment, we hear about it, or we encounter something in our lives that causes us to form an opinion about it. These opinions then become part of our personal reality and effect everything we do as adults.
When these beliefs affect your life, you will not be able to function as a normal human being. These barriers to success prevent you from taking advantage of every opportunity you have. The only way for you to overcome these beliefs is to remove them from your life and start anew.
There are several things that can cause you to change your beliefs. Maybe something happened that made you doubt your abilities. This may have happened as a result of a teacher or other outside influence. If you feel inadequate, you have a reasonable reason to believe that your abilities are not as good as someone else's. Recognizing your own limitations is the first step to removing these beliefs and starting over.
You also need to change your beliefs if you are becoming a victim of someone else's actions. Maybe you saw something happen that made you angry. As you experience this anger, you will need to learn what caused this emotion and learn to channel it in a positive manner. Instead of getting mad, you can learn to get in control. You need to learn how to calm down. You also need to learn how to remain calm when you are the victim in these situations.
When you have reached a point in your life where your beliefs are blocking you from taking the right steps, you have to make a choice. You have two choices: you can continue to live with the belief that you are wrong, or you can decide that you are willing to let go of the belief. When you finally decide to let go of the belief, you will need to replace it with a belief that is more in line with your values and goals. This does not mean you must change all of your previous beliefs; but you can replace some of them with new ones.
When you make a new belief, you will be faced with the possibility of testing to see if the new belief is one that is consistent with your life and happiness. You may be surprised to find out that the new belief is exactly what you have been searching for. Or, you may not find out until you start seeing changes in your life. Either way, you will have changed a portion of your beliefs.
Once you discover what your beliefs really are, you can then make a choice as to how you will address your beliefs going forward. The choice you make will not only affect your current beliefs, but will impact the beliefs of everyone that happens to know you. So, it is important to understand that your beliefs affect your life, because how you handle your beliefs, will also affect the people around you.
Your beliefs affect your life when you believe something to be false. When you believe that someone is evil, this is a form of hate. If you hate someone because they are bad, this is a form of discrimination. So, it is important that you learn to replace these beliefs with new beliefs that are consistent with your values and what is right in your life.
