The photo below was shared to me in my FB page. The caption in Pilipino reads: "Who had more fun? Kids before or kids now.
This really got me thinking. While I belong to the "kids before" category, and we really did have a lot of fun with the games we played before, were we really happier than the kids of today, almost all of whom seem to be attached to their cell phones and electronic gadgets? Check out the next photo below. Looking at it closely, there doesn't seem to be much of a difference in the enjoyment the kids before and today are having.
People of the 90's say children before had more interaction among themselves than kids of the 20's. Check out the next photo. Does it look like the "kids now" are not interacting among themselves? There obviously is interaction then and now.
The next photo shows "kids then" playing in the rain, running and having a really good time while the "kids now" are all tucked inside, warm and dry and busy with their cell phones and ipads. It's really hard NOT to say the "kids then" are having more fun. There are a lot of laughter and screaming, of running around while frolicking in the rain by the "kids then". However, the "kids now", although almost motionless, are likewise engrossed with what they are doing and obviously enjoying themselves too. They just aren't as noisy and active as their counterparts. Does this make their enjoyment any less?
Same can be said about the next photo.
So, back to the question: Who had more fun? If you are from the 90's or earlier, the answer will definitely be the "kids then". Why? Because you have experienced the kind of life then and know the difference between what you used to do and what kids now do. However, for the "kids now", their answer will most certainly be them having more fun because they do not know and have not experienced anything else and have no basis of comparing which is more fun.
What about you?
