Continuing my Dream Jar ponderings, is this little questions,
WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU HAD ALL THE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE YOU NEEDED?
Contemplating on this one, I'd say that being an Artisan, to create something from a raw material, would be a work of satisfaction.
Being an Administration/Logistics background, I used to love becoming the Master of my Realm.
From the, "Front Door to Back Door", there was a ballet of movements. Where you knew how everything was meant to flow and what level of effort, both mentally & physically, to get the job done.
When I see how construction Tiles, Glass and so on, has multiple uses, specific qualities for different applications - the centuries of development to not just make the item, but to know how to make it well.
Pizza dough, there is a science behind the great pizza makers, or chefs in general, who know the consistency, the ingredients, the heat, the time, to become experienced to make a final product that just demonstrates a quality, above and beyond, what a layperson could do.
I'd like to craft something, to know how to apply my skills and knowledge, to be above reproach.
What would I do?
In my "sustainability" focus, I'd like to apply the Skills & Knowledge that I had, to develop product packaging that was recyclable or resource reclaimable.
I hate the level of packaging, particularly with food, of plastics that can only end up in the rubbish bin & land fill.
I follow a coupld of "Innovative Packaging" companies who claim they have discovered packaging made out of seaweed, banana skins, and so forth, but I am yet to see that applied to any low-cost, effective packaging that is being embraced by the biggest pollution creaters in our FCMG industries.
To champion a dramatic change that would improve our consumption loop, to maintain the convenience of our lifestyles for food preparation - from Farm to Plate - would be something that takes second guessing as a consumer.
I guess not wanting to be stationary, I'd like to use my Skills and Knowledge to guide a number of different groups in achieving positive outcomes.
I don't want to sit still. I'd like to work with groups of emerging talent, to watch them producing items from creative outlets.
Helping a group follow their passions, whether they want to open a restaurant, make art and crafts, overcome mental illnesses ... but I don't want to just be in one of them - i want to be involved in all of them.
