The colourful splendour of October is gone. The trees are bare. The sun is very weak and not capable of warming very much. It can already be snowy and wintery or the kind of grey wetness typical of the autumn may even continue to January. The character of the late autumn/early winter here is completely up to various very large scale weather patterns such as the North Atlantic Oscillation that determines the trajectories of the low pressure centres coming from the southwest.
