................................................................

When placed upon the pyre by silken glove
To rouge then lemon, blue then clay consumed
To ashen urn in midst of morn above
Cold remnants lie through midnight unexhumed.

An airship of foreboding fare them well,
The season's poignant captain-wheel to grind.
When in the brig of subtle season-spell,
The spirit's scream unheard by waking mind.

Aboard an ironclad and breathless barge,
Each rivet's bursting one small victory.
Though each foregoing cleft be counted large:
A phoneme of one full ben'dictory.

The palace walls of crude and callous steel
By crawling years eroded, bent and skewed,
Bestow ecstatic hope, though dirt conceal
Their liberatory urge as passing lewd.

Then ancestors triumphant seize what's sought—
Eternal peace, once finally forgot.

@d-pend,

Dan ... people don't appreciate how good you are.

I do.

I know what it takes to write such a poem. You are a spectacular poet who writes spectacular poetry.

As I've said before, in a Big Money Write-Off, poetry or prose, there is only one name I desperately never want to see in the Participant's List: D-Pend.

Incredibly well written.

1 John 3:14

We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death.

Except for the third picture, which shows a sky with such vivacity it looks as if it is literally on fire, the rest of the images add up to a very sad looking cemetery. Not that cemeteries be knows for their cheerfulness, but this one looks abandoned. Is it?
The poem poses some interesting question about our traditional assumption of eternal peace or resting place.
Do we really reach that realm? how? when?
The poem suggest it comes with oblivion.

Wow,

You captured in photo and words our ancestor's resting place. It's hard to say without actually being there what afterlife befalls.

It is tradition for Korean families to visit the tombs on Lunar thanksgiving and New Year. This post comes right about Lunar New Year the time of Confucian ancestor ceremonies.

Death contemplated from the hereafter has different eyes. It is as if neither there nor here is true rest and this only occurs when there are no memories that shake the soul. There is no eternity that contains the strength of the soul; only oblivion can extinguish its fire. The death of the flesh is not the end, but a passing conquest of peace.
