These are the guidelines
6 Guidelines to Win Prizes for SPUD
1, To be eligible for Prizes Steemit users MUST NOT BE POWERING DOWN either before or after August 1st, Remember this competition is about Power up not Powering Down, any prize winner found to be powering down while in possession of a delegated prize will have delegation removed - checks will be done :)

2, Steemit users must have more than 50 steem power in their wallet (prior to #SPUD4STEEM and no more than 20,000 steem Power. delegated steem power does not count towards any % increase.

3, Steemit user has to have a reputation of above 40 and below 75

4, Participants have to have at least 1 post prior to 1 August which talks about this competition, using this tag #spud4steem

5, Power Up must be done on 1 August 2020 in your local Countries time zone

6, Your post on 1 August must show screenshots of your account before and after your power up, use the tag #spud4steem - please note daily claimed rewards are not included in any % increase calculations

If you meet the 6 above criteria you can consider your self entered, How we will work out prize winners will be based on the % increase of your Steem power, not how much you powered up

Example:
User 1 has 100 Steem already powered up, they follow the 6 guidelines and power up 15 more Steem power which would be a 15% increase

User 2 has 200 Steem and powers up 15 more steen power which equates to a 7.5% increase, so in this scenario user 1 has a higher % and is more likely to win a prize when compared to user 2

These prizes and gifts are designed to promote powering up on the Steem Blockchain to give a better understanding of how Steem power backs the Steem Ecosystem.

Winners duties
We are now asking all future winners to make a post similar to the July winners one below, this is being done to protect our kind sponsors from any account not acting in the spirit of the #SPUD4STEEM message.

Dear @kiwiscanfly, @xpilar

Great initiative.

However, I honestly do not understand why only % increase is being taken into considaration.

It simply means, that noone who have more than 1k SP would probably participate. After all - if such a person would like to compete with other smaller accounts, then such user would need to use 20 times more resources comparing to someone who has initially 50SP.

I've myself considered joining since I've enough funds on binance to purchase 5-6k steem and power it up. However I do not see a point in doing so (as I have almost 4k SP and someone with 100 SP would reach same % by only purchasing and powering up another 150 SP).

Other than that - this is surely solid initiative.

Yours,
Piotr

Hi @crypto.piotr @kiwiscanfly @juanmolina

The prizes are meant to incentivize the smaller Steemians, the planktons, minnows and aspiring Dolphins out in the Steem Ocean to participate in powering up on SPUD4STEEM and hopefully create more understanding as to why Steem Power is important to user account growth as well as a show or Steem Blockchain support.

Therefore, the % basis is very important here so that a small account has the opportunity to win in this competition. It is important to see the point in the competition.

If changes are made in the competition, it must be divided into groups with the number of SteemPower so that those with small accounts will also have the opportunity.

SPUD4STEEM is not just a competition, it stands for STEEM POWER UP DAY which takes place the first day of every month.

We ask that Steemians that are able, to POWER UP any amount of STEEM they have on SPUD4STEEM day.

We ask Steemians that are currently Powering Down, to put a Stop on Powering Down for that Day
We ask that those that trade or sell Steem to Not Sell or Trade Steem on SPUD4STEEM Day, but to do it the day before or after if possible. Also, to cancel any type of Sell Order on the Exchanges.

As I say this is more than pure competition, because it is about that everyone can do SPUD4STEEM the first of every month.
Yes, anyone can support this project even if they are outside the rules of the competition

Dear @xpilar

Thank you for your prompt reply

That absolutely make sense. However only in theory. I spoke with few users about them joining SPUD and reply I received was pretty much always the same, that they have already to much SP to be able to compete.

And those were words coming from users having 300-400 SP. I would also consider those users to be VERY small. However this initiative is already ... not for them (to hard to compete with anyone who would have 50-100 SP as a starting point).

Hope you see what I'm trying to say? Those rules are limiting your audience to people, who simply have close to zero SP. Anyone with 300 SP (or above) has no chance against them.

After all - it's like promoting "being poor". Saying that "poorer you are - more chance for you to win".

SPUD4STEEM is not just a competition, it stands for STEEM POWER UP DAY which takes place the first day of every month.

My impression is, that those who participate see it as a competition. At least that's my impression after several talks here and there :)

ps.
I've spoke to Kiwi and I suggested that I could allocate few upvotes from crypto.piotr and project.hope (300k SP) and join group of "sponsors" for your next SPUDs.

Cheers
Piotr

@kiwiscanfly I think the prize box creative should be re-worked. It is misleading. It currently conveys that there is a ( Bulk SP reward + Delegations + Upvote). The actual prize being (delegations + Upvote). A lot of us participated thinking it was option 1 :)
