@tipU Update: Resuming Vote Selling Under #Newsteem

작년
Update about the promotion service provided by @tipU.

After being disabled for past week, @tipU is resuming vote selling under new rules:

  • upvote value: 150% of the payment (please remember about non-linear reward curve)
  • each upvote is rewarded with @tipU profit sharing tokens (TPUs)
  • instant upvotes: no need to wait for bidding round
  • minimum payments: 1 SBD / 5 STEEM
  • 50% of the payment will be used to support steem projects like @steempeak and @bank.sbd

All the other stuff like auto-refunding is of course also working.

I don't expect this service to be hugely popular but there you go, you can use it to gain visibility. I hope that with those changes, authors who use the service won't get downvoted. Of course I can't guarantee this. Let me know if you have any feedback. Cheers!

PS. The service will be enabled in about 10 hours so users have time to notice this post and familiarize themselves with the changes.

Authors get paid when people like you upvote their post.

Best of luck to your business model. It might not work out though. Bidbot tracker is completely dead, no one is using those bots.

It likely has nothing to do with whether it is profitable for the vote buyer or not. Many people are willing to completely burn their post rewards for visibility, but if you're going to get flagged it doesn't matter.

In the end, the burning doesn't provide enough visibility to be worth doing or buying unprofitable votes. Nevertheless, these flagging accounts do not care if the content is quality, or if your project is good for Steem. If you use purchased votes some of these flaggers will attack your post, and the purchased visibility becomes pointless.

The biggest irony is that these people flag all these posts that are not "high quality" but used purchased votes, yet not a single one of them protest the incredibly selfish and ridiculous spam posts from @burnpost. This project is leeching author rewards away from the community for the sake of protecting their own pockets and is very anti-POB and a complete contradiction to everything Steem was suppose to represent. But sure, downvote the dude from India that wrote a grammatical nightmare and paid to get it on trending.

You made a smart move by switching to community curation. This, on the other hand, is a step backwards. If it's about visibility, Steemit.com should finally implement a similar promoted model as the one used by SCOT Tribes. Same goes for other popular frontends.

·

Agree about steemit - but they're not doing it and I think there is a place for advertising your content, especially for businesses. Once steemit introduces some usable form of promoting your content I'll be happy to switch it off ;)

·

Also don't worry, no one is using it ;)

·

what's the one used by the tribes, please give me a link to read. I'm not so much into tribes and I still want to promote my posts somehow.

Sorry that you have been bullied by a bunch of people willing to take your upvotes (made by the profit from upvote selling platform) but unwilling to actually look at content at all. Be well!

@tipu, sorry to see you have less Steem Power.
Your level lowered and you are now a Dolphin!
Vote for @Steemitboard as a witness to get one more award and increased upvotes!

This will be an interesting experiment to see who is really in it for the 'promotion'!

·

I have always thought that anything less than the amount that would get you on trending is not for promotion, steem has no content discovery algorithms and anything above a few dollars is not worth voting after the fact if based on purely content value. Even if I were to "promote" my own posts I would then do it with minimal amounts because what I do care about is a means of growing my account other than putting out dribble , but I also do not think any of the posts on the homepage now is worth even half of what they got, then many of them keep getting that recurringly. then again I hate the term influencer.

All in all I may be quite confuckulated since I think there are many aspects to it and in a completely content sense I would cap the max any post could ever get no matter the stake but there is stake and all it means is influence it does not mean good content and it does not mean someone has a following , through that disparity of this all being a mix of facebook, twitter and medium but with people measuring dicks on top of that it would be nice to have a living code of conduct instead of some mafia move to crackdown. Example your content is in the upper tiers of content on steem, consistency, quality but niche. It is average - really no offense - if compared to the top of maybe bigger sites like medium I can only imagine though since I compare that with what I see with coding tutorials and similar types of posts on steem vs any other blog.

Those writing for their own blogs have accepted that that is what is required and steem for all intents and purposes is a monetization platform, steem thinks it is a exclusive quality content platform , many users think it is social media ... and I don't even know what I think because all those aspects are present and if one were to consider maybe - bad example - but a fair use policy and like I said a definite code of conduct then things like voting trails etc do not necessarily need to seem so villainous - thinking distribution/basic allowance. It is hard and sure many of us and probably my dumb ass still need to understand a few more things but that will come with time, I just think instead of having pulled the weeds in a proper and timely manner the entire lawn is being set alight.

All in all, it is a new old thing this and yet we are leaning towards doing things the traditional only the kin of kings and queens shall rise. I understand it is also not a utopia and such ideas are nonsensical. It is still the bots stake and they can effectively do as they which since there are no real community standards apart from that which gets decided willy nilly, now I am neither for nor against anything apart from @chbartist and some other cunty people but I am against something just being a knee jerk reaction based on some anal tag #newsteem.

What if the bot followed the global blacklist?
What if all users get vetted on a regular basis?
What if a user is known to powerdown more than % they lose service across the chain?
What about max allowed caps?

What about just implementing some moderation control instead of leading the rebellion for a group dictatorship..lol I don't know what you call those.

Those are things small groups can adopt and rule their neighbourhoods with instead of the top tier anyway automating what they do in the end as it grows then willy nilly hitting anything which by that time would be just bad by default. - I don't mind bad by default when applied by humans in general but I am trying to think beyond myself :)

Regardless of those that care to have huge amounts will do what they do anyway and will do it off-chain, new "contests" with new "requirements" will arise creating a lot stronger gangs with no one having truly created a sustainable culture moving forward since like in this pathetic country of mine they all live with resentment of not having.

I hope I made a little sense as you can see I get things a bit messy, it is like puke in a tumble drier.
Sorry that got away from me for a bit.

Did you downvote your own comment? Well-played!
Trending right now is a Steemfest, 3Speak, Burnpost fckfest, but it's still better than before.

·
·
·

Yip agreed it is better, I hated seeing @chbartist and that Putin guy on trending. Almost typed a lto but think I should think of more concise things or shut up. Lol I should not type as I process. Like you say things are converging and we are also still changing our ways of thinking about things hence I don't think a generalization that all who make profit from votes are villians. I probably also should not compare general content or actions to trending anyway because they have nothing to do with each other. I do my share of generalization also and sure there are authors on trending now that actually deserved a break maybe, not the best content but on a personable level it is well deserved. all in all head down and don't be too much of an asshole is my way, plus maybe popcorn for those that get real serious about things, they are always fun :)

We are fresh off the hardfork too, things are still converging.

I do appreciate what tipu is doing and I won't downvote anyone using this service for promotion of quality content.

However, like you I suspect most people defending the buying of votes for Steem don't want negative ROI.

As you resume, do you have any pla s to burn steem?
How will you check post quality?

I have been told by tons of New Steem members that content dosent matter because all bid bots are bad no matter what is promoted.
Was and still is my biggest complaint about everyone on a high horse forcing rules that have nothing to do with content and everything to do with how the drop in steem price hurt their wallets.

What if it is called advertising? There is plenty of shitty advertisement too. 💕

·

I don't see much point in burning 0.00000001% of the daily supply, Id rather use this amount to support steem developers.

As for quality, @tipu uses blacklist api plus I hope no one will pay to promote shitty content ;)

I think this is good to promote post beacuse in that case users don't care much for downvotes and if anyone is buying vote to earn then must be ready for downvotes as well.
Will your curation program run as usual or any changes on that?

This will have no effect on curation - but the project is constantly evolving ;)

Greetings, I wanted to be a tipu curator, but I requested a couple of times and they never responded. There is no chance anymore?

·

Currently nominations are paused because the voting power is being drained too fast. Please remind me in few days :)

Hi @blessed-girl! @cardboard has nominated you to become a @tipU curator! You can now request 3 @tipU upvotes per day on any content you like. The better curation reward you can get, the more upvotes with higher value you can send. You can nominate new curators as well!

To send the upvote, please comment under the post and at the end of the comment, add: @tipu curate. To nominate someone else you think would make a good @tipU curator, reply to one of their posts or comments with: @tipu nominate. All of this is of course free :)

First things first: I know that the demand is almost 0, but I think that it might be important to have the whole offer around until the situation normalizes itself.

So three points seems to be like the same like before. (tokens, no bods and minimum payments)
But cutting down the ROI from +20% right down to -50%? Why not just pushing it down to 0%? They are just getting back the amount of Steem (or a little bit less) what they have paid for. Basically the whole promotion is just the product that they are getting.

And what the hell is steemdao and steemspeak and why are they getting 20%?
I don't like giving money out of the tipu-system with little to no benefit.
But I would like to see to get those manual curators rewarded with those profits, but at way more reliable cute like 5% or 10%.
(Please don't start printing tokens for them, unless they are providing more Steem than those tokens are costing tipu. Sustainability has to be the top priority.)

I still think that newsteem will normalize itself sooner or later and that a promotion service with reasonable conditions will have a place somewhere around then.
